What does Reproductive Justice mean to you?

To us, Reproductive Justice means that our neighbors are never in need. It means that people are entitled to the care they need when they need it, no questions asked. It means families have access to nutritious food, necessities, and support to live happy and healthy lives. It means an end to period poverty and systemic racism that causes Alabama to have one of the nation’s highest maternal mortality rates for Black women. And of course, Reproductive Justice means access to equitable abortion free from practical and legal barriers.

After Roe v. Wade was overturned 2 years ago today, YHF remained committed to our definition of Reproductive Justice, and we actualize this commitment through our programming:

  • Community Education and Empowerment: We offer community-based education around reproductive issues and topics such as sexual health and wellness, and local laws and regulations. Our community outreach program allows us to be responsive to direct community needs.
  • Policy Advocacy: We take action to fight for Reproductive Justice by advocating for change at both the local and national levels.
  • Development of Mutual Aid: In addition to our Emergency Contraceptive distribution,  we offer financial assistance and practical support for all birthing persons through our Family Justice Program. Folks in need of care and critical resources for their families can depend on us to be there.  Additionally, through our Legal Defense Fund, we offer funding to support the legal expenses of those being prosecuted for their pregnancy-related outcomes.

It is because of grassroots supporters like you that we are able to help thousands of people through these programs. On this momentous anniversary, please consider giving what you can to help Southern communities. You can always donate directly or click here to send us items via our Family Justice Wishlist.

You can make a difference. Donate today, and join us on the frontlines of Reproductive Justice.

In solidarity,

Jenice, Kelsea, Denni, Heidi, Jake, Shakeyla, Kari, Frances, & Amy
